A balanced raw food diet consists of 6 essential groups. They
are vegetables, fruits, seeds, including sprouting seeds, nuts and
healthy grains. The sixth component is an abundance of pure
filtered water. This balance is necessary to attain a state of
ultimate health and is especially important for growing children,
athletes and pregnant or nursing mothers. Fermented foods such as
sauerkraut and Kim Chee are very beneficial to the intestinal tract.
Good healthy oils such as Olive oil, coconut oil and grapeseed oil add a
high level of saturation to your menu. If you want to be fully
alive and be all that you can be, you need to eat food that is alive.
Raw natural foods help to prevent diabetes, heart disease and cancers,
to name just a few of the diseases we can avoid by eating a natural
plant based diet. A Raw Food diet is a Healing diet. Cooking
destroys nutrients and the basic chemical structure of food is altered.
Food is considered raw and alive when it has not been heated above 118
degrees F. Cooking destroys live enzymes and 30% to 50% of the
vitamin content and minerals are rendered less absorbable. If you
feel you must cook, and you may very well fell this way during the
transition from a S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) diet to a Raw Food
Lifestyle, use the lowest possible temperature for the least amount of
time. Steaming is the preferred method of cooking and allows the
food to retain the greatest amount of vitamins and minerals.
Another important point to make is that everyone will transition at
their own comfortable pace and it is very important to not be hard on
